Elementary School core subjects are enriched through the offerings of Spanish, music, computer and art. Kindergarten – 6th Grade students receive enrichment instruction on a regular basis, with varying times depending upon grade level. Junior Kindergarten participates in Spanish and music.
Our computer lab is equipped with 26 high-speed networked computers. Students are instructed in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software programs. They also learn to integrate computer technology into classroom assignments.
The Elementary music program encourages students to explore their God-given talents through singing, basic music instruction and introduction to music theory. All Elementary students perform in at least one singing performance each year. Students in 3rd – 6th Grades may also participate in an Honor Choir which performs at various venues throughout Orange County, including the ACSI Music Festival, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and local community events.
Elementary students are introduced to major artists and various art techniques through Art Masters – a program which provides qualified personnel for art lectures and classroom instruction. SVCS currently utilizes this program four times per school year. In addition to Art Masters, each grade level has specific art projects which are taught by the classroom teachers.
Elementary Spanish begins in Junior Kindergarten. Students are introduced to the basics of the language, as well as to the customs and culture of Spanish-speaking people. Beginning in 5th Grade, more formal use of the language is covered, including verb conjugation and written expression.
